El ciprés común o ciprés mediterráneo, es una especie arbórea de hoja perenne de la familia de las Cupresáceas. Tiene gran longevidad, existiendo ejemplares con más de 1000 años.

Hojas: Se presentan en ramillos con forma de escama entre 2 y 5 milímetros de longitud. Forman un follaje denso de color verde oscuro.
